Volunteers make a difference
Join us, become a volunteer at Help A Friend Club !
OBJECTIVES
The objectives for which the Association is established are for charitable and benevolent community services including the following:
- Refuges for people in crisis accommodation for the aged, people in crises and for the disabled.
- Support networking to assist with food and clothing.
- Education and assistance to improve life skills
- To meet the needs of men, women and children who are either permanently homeless or temporarily homeless as a result of a crisis.
- The relief of poverty in the community.
By working together, volunteers can assist us to help make a positive difference to the wellbeing of people who are homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless.
Volunteers are the backbone of all not-for-profit/charity work in Australia. These dedicated men and women are the lifeblood of the community. Help A Friend Club Toowoomba Inc is no exception. We are looking for dedicated workers who can volunteer their time and talents to help us help others.
Why Volunteer?
Becoming a volunteer opens up a world of opportunity to learn new skills, develop self-confidence and meet new friends.
The services you can provide as a volunteer are beneficial, not only to yourself, but also to the organisation, and most importantly, to the people who will benefit from your skills, enthusiasm, your time, effort and companionship.
Anyone can volunteer. It is all about taking the first step. You will be supporting the needs of others as well as deriving satisfaction that comes from really making a difference.
How can you help?
Volunteers determine their own level of involvement as well as the types of activities they wish to be involved in. We can help you find a position that best suits your interests and skills. Opportunities vary according to a volunteer’s availability and preferences.
All volunteers are covered by insurance whilst undertaking their volunteer work. No special skills or qualifications are required. We will have regular informal get-togethers so everyone gets the chance to meet.
A volunteer coordinator and other staff are available to talk over any concerns or problems you may have. Volunteer opportunities are only available during business hours. Many of our volunteer roles do not require any additional training though some roles may require particular skills, specialist training and/or experience.
If you’re interested in volunteering with us, we’d like to hear from you.
